Manchester photographed on a compact camera
Nr Shudehill, Manchester
I seldom use a compact, but they're handy to keep in the pocket when you're not officially out on a shoot, and sometimes it is in those moments that you see something you just have to record.
Moreover, sometimes, the lack of technical perfection presents other creative possibilities and the imperfections become part of the character of the finished photograph. I'm sure many Lomography enthusiasts would agree. This has been desaturated not quite all the way to black and white.
This photograph was taken just off Shudehill, near Rosenfields' old place - a vestige of Manchester's now largely lost 'rag trade' zone.
